Putting the "Gal" in Cystic Gal

Today is the first day of my very horrible terrible mind-numbing fist-pounding-on-my-desk crampy did-I-already-type-the-word-terrible period. I have to go back to the couch. Some other day I'll rant about this and its Cystic connections and my diagnosis with Pulmonary Endometriosis 4 years ago.

That's all I'm going to say about that for now.

I have to go catch my uterus. It's falling out.

  1. aggh, I'm so sorry! I'm not super-familiar with PE specifically (so I'm looking forward to your follow up!) but I would always feel like I had been hit by a truck and/or came down with pneumonia overnight right around (and then all the way through) my period; my hemoptysis would always get worse around it, too.

Then I lost a ton of weight (general CF shed-age, not period-related) and megace (synthetic progesterone) was the appetite stimulant of choice from my care team. It had/has the pleasant side effect of inhibiting menstruation, so even once I gained the weight back, I've stayed on a superlow dose (40mg, compared to 200mg minimum appetite-stimulant dose) just to keep from getting my period and the accompanying hemo/flu/pneumonia.

It's also nice because when/if I lose weight and need to go back to an appetite stimulant, I simply go up on my dose until I pork back up, without having to worry about adding/changing another medicine.

Point being, I've been period free and happy as can be for almost 5 years now, with no real side effects (except slightly bigger tata's, but I have no complaints). It'd definitely be sonething worth checking into, I'm evangelical about it to CFers with period issues.

Sorry for the novel, but I hope the info helps (and you feel better soon!)

  2. I read this post and went OH MY GOD. Someone gets this.

I would LOVE to talk to you about your Pulmonary Endometriosis. I have Endometriosis and had horrible periods, and when I was on the pill I had break-through bleeding everyday. I was always bleeding. And then the pain got so bad I couldn't leave the couch - and now I am in menopause on purpose (that's what I like to call it - I take a shot every 3 months to keep the endometriosis in check).

Now that I've told you more than you probably wanted to know about me, I'll stop talking now. But honestly, I'd love to talk about your Pulmonary Endometriosis sometime.

    Thanks,
    Carla
